The initial stages of Ynvisible's technology development date back to 2005, when YDreams and research groups from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at UNL started a joint research initiative aimed at developing electrochromic displays on a variety of surfaces.
YD Ynvisible, S.A. was officially constituted in January 2010 and listed on the First Quotation Board (Open Market) of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on February 9th 2011, after raising capital from both Portuguese and foreign investors.
The company's goal is to become a leading developer of electrochromic displays which will be printed on any surface or object, including paper, plastic, glass, ceramics, wood-based materials and cork. The company targets the mass production of low cost interactive electrochromic displays that are printed, flexible, transparent, low power and sunlight-readable.
The first generation of Ynvisible's products will be monochromatic electrochromic plastic stickers which the company expects will be available in 2011.
