Fab Labs in Lisbon
2010/01/21The conference will take place this Friday, January 22, at Lisbon's Congress Center. One of the main speakers will be Neil Gershenfeld, head of MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms and creator of the Fab Labs concept. The event will be presidedover by the Portuguese Secretary of State for Energy and Innovation, Carlos Zorrinho.
Fab Labs are fabrication laboratories that allow citizens and organizations access to manufacturing materials, such as laser cutters or rapid prototyping tools, thereby enabling communities to expand their creativity and innovation. It has been a worldwide success from places like Norway to Ghana, and many others. The conference's main goal is laying down the foundations to establishing a Portuguese network of Fab Labs.
