‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’

Ever since moving into our new headquarters on the FCT New Lisbon University campus, just across the river from Lisbon, we’ve made a point of keeping our company culture well and alive.

We play just about as hard as we work. After all the time spent programming, pitching presentations, brainstorming, developing concepts, crunching numbers and so forth, fun and healthy outlets are required to keep things balanced.

While we may not be located amidst the hustle and bustle of a big city, we are about five minutes away from some of the best beaches in Europe, as well as some pretty great hiking and biking trails just outside the nation’s capital.

So given our serendipitous surroundings, it wasn’t long before people started to get together to organize some pretty cool extracurricular activities.

Take for example our fledging ‘WipeOut Team’; thus far a group of about 12 YDreamers, body boarders and surfers alike, ranging from absolute beginner to advanced-surfer level. The gang gets together and hits the waves early before work or doing their lunch breaks. Check out some pics of the guys working the Caparica waves – photos courtesy of our equally talented YPhotographer, Pedro Cardoso.

For those averse to big waves we also have a group of mountain bike aficionados who head out at least once a week to explore the trails that run along the coast south of here, and for the aspiring Federeres and Sharapovas, we are lucky enough to have the campus tennis courts right up the road from us, meaning that mails to our internal Timeout box looking for partners for a quick match or two are commonplace.

Finally, last but by no means least; we’ve got our very own in-company rock band comprised of multi-talented musicians who are always ready for a full-throttle jam session in the company’s rehearsal studio. They call themselves the YBand and number close to 30! They play at company parties and events and last year they made it to the semi-finals of the Fortune Battle of the Corporate Bands in London.
