YDreams wins honorable mention at the MIX09 Showoff Competition

We’re pretty excited about this cool piece of news! We just found out that our ‘Playing in an Augmented World’ demo-mix submitted at this year’s MIX09 Showoff contest, and presented to hundreds of peers in Las Vegas, received an honorable mention!
The demo put together by YLabs (our in-house R&D lab) shows-off some real- time interaction with 3D objects using a webcam.
Again, congratulations to all involved.

I “follow” your company since your first incursion in the games industry(my main interest).
Your growth during the years surprised me, as well as many people, whether Portuguese or Foreign.
(the Portuguese tvshow about tecnology “2010″ was always talking about your works)
During all these years I saw Ydreams with great admiration: Admiration for your work, commitment, innovation and results.
Now Ydreams is bigger and better than ever!

Personal desire:I hope one day you forget the past bad experiences and start slowly to invest in games industry again. I know that your goals changed, and such a thing would need to be very well analyzed.
I’ll drop here one thought of mine:
There is an independent AAA quality Portuguese game project, that has been recently canceled due to investment problems (I guess it was being financed by venture capital).
They have the most part of the game engine done.
For what has been seen in some youtube videos released by the company, the game engine was in a quite evolved stage, and showed good skills by the software team.
In my personal view, they had a very ‘occidental’ game design, based mainly on the software technology, and lacking on ideas and innovation.
Ideas and innovation is something quite abundant at Ydreams :D!
Of course that the fact that they were being financed by risk capitals may bring some property issues.
So far they had raised 5 million euros. They probably need more 2-4 million euros.

NOTE3:If my desire seemed to had a high “a**hole quotient”, then you got it wrong. I’m a modest guy, just excited. I obviously am very ignorant about the whole thing I described, but just felt like saying it.
NOTE4:I’m currently on my 1st year of computer science. Every Portuguese student of informatics is being inspired by your innovations and creativity, and seeing your company as a top place to work.
NOTE5:Move interactive didn’t pay me to say this! I just like to support my country’s enterprises. The one’s I like!
